Skincare for Kids – Best Brands and Products
Skincare does not determine age. It is a habit for most people who want to enhance their confidence and look exceptionally good in a bunch of people. Anybody who loves him/herself would definitely like to do skincare. Same goes for kids.
Kids nowadays are more enthusiastic about their skin. I have been frequently asked about skincare for kids, brands and products that suit their gentle and sensitive skin. This post will suggest brands and products for skincare for kids of the age of 8-16.

Skincare Products for Kids
Kids of age up to 15 really do not need any skincare. Their skin is too sensitive and gentle for the harsh ingredients in skincare products. But there are some exceptions for kids to use such products, like using sunscreens in summer and moisture for winter to keep their body moisturized.
Due to the online fame of skincare, kids now want to do skincare, which makes their parents worry about choosing gentler products to their skin.
I have written thoroughly about skincare for kids, products and their usage routine.
Kid-Friendly Gentle Cleansers:
Cleansers are the key products for skincare. Even if your child is not much concerned about skincare, cleanser is a thing that is a must for skin. A gentler cleanser is pretty fair for your kid’s skin, being harmless to an extent for morning or evening or both.
When choosing a cleanser for your child, make sure that the cleanser does not contain following ingredients;
- Retinoids
- Denatured alcohol
- Essential oils
- Natural or artificial fragrances
- Chemical exfoliants; alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) and beta hydroxy acids (BHA)
- Active ingredients like nicotinamides and vitamin C
Cleansers free of above products cause very little irritation and allergies.
Sun Protections for Kids
In my opinion, sun-protection is something that everybody should use when going outside. Children’s skin is fragile towards active ingredients such products contain. Influencers and social activists have hyped sunscreen use to a very large ratio that almost every child is eager to use it.
For elders and older teens, it is suitable to use to overcome sun damage, but among young ones and children sunscreen’s use can cause breakouts and other skin problems.
It is a good option to use kid-friendly products but they are not 100% harmless, they can also cause breakouts and acne, leading the child to higher skincare levels. Such steps that create a cycle of longer damage to skin. I always suggest parents to contact certified dermatologists for choosing gentle products for skincare for kids.
Face Skincare for kids
Kid’s skin does not need some fancy kind of skincare products and brands. All their skin needs is a soft and gentle skincare product with minimal harm.

CeraVe’s Cream to Foam Cleanser
This cleanser is suitable for kids with dry or normal skin. My 11 year old sister also uses this cleanser. The most beneficial feature of this brand is that its products do not cause irritation to skin. CeraVe’s Cream to Foam Cleanser is fragrance free and does not contain harmful active ingredients.

Avoid CeraVe SA Cleanser, it contains salicylic acid which is too harsh for a kid’s skin.
Dermatica’s Glycerin Gel Cleanser
- Dermatica’s glycerine gel cleanser is very gentle for both adults and kids.
- It is unscented
- Suitable for oily skins.

Byoma Creamy Jelly Cleanser
Byoma creamy jelly cleansers contain tri-ceramide complexes that strengthen skin barriers. The formula is very gentle on a kid’s skin. It is free of fragrances, active ingredients and alcohol. Suitable for all skin types.

I would recommend parents to avoid serum use, but still if your teen is eager to use here are some brands.

They contain chemical exfoliants, fragrances and essential oils which make them must avoid brands for skincare for kids.
Following is the list of some other brands to be avoided for kid.
- Inkey List
- Versed
- Charlotte Tilbury
- Alpha H
- Ole Henrikson
- Murad
- Barbara Sturm
- Sunday Riley
- Eve Lom
- The Ordinary
- Farmacy
- Caudalie

Gentle Skincare for Teen Acne
As a person suffering from acne throughout her whole life, I can relate how difficult it is to deal with it.
I do recommend skincare for kids but unfortunately they are not good enough to fix teen acne. I still remember how worried my mother was for me, concerned about the acne, as she never had acne.

Although it would be a little harsh, if your teen is having a mild to severe acne, you can add a small concentration of salicylic acne to the skincare routine.
There are multiple products that will help you to combat acne but it will be difficult to deal with later side effects. I mostly suggest parents visit a dermatologist instead of trying new products on teens’ fragile and sensitive skin.
Conclusion
I always say kids and teens should never worry about skincare at their age. This might lead to more complexities at older ages. If you are too eager to do skincare then the best way is to visit a dermatologist or choosing gentler and harmless products with less active ingredients for skincare for kids.
